About El Camino Country Club
El Camino Country Club in Oceanside, California, opened in 1958 on former rolling ranch land. The course was designed by architect William H. Johnson, who laid out a par-72 layout measuring 6,840 yards and built it in an older style that left the natural terrain largely as he found it.
Johnson's approach aimed to keep the golf in balance with its surroundings. The result is a routing of undulating Kikuyu fairways and Bermuda tees, with greens framed by tall stands of eucalyptus and Monterey pines.
