About Metropolitan Golf Links
Metropolitan Golf Links sits just east of Oakland International Airport, on the site of the former Galbraith Golf Course. The layout was designed by Johnny Miller and Fred Bliss, who have described the result as an "American Links" style course.
The original ground had gentle undulation, which the architects reshaped while rebuilding the playing surfaces from the ground up. Two feet of sand was spread over the existing terrain and planted with modern turf hybrids, greatly improving drainage and keeping the course playable when other courses in the area stay wet or restrict carts to paths.
