About The Golf Club At Moffett Field
The Golf Club at Moffett Field opened in 1959 as a nine-hole layout designed by Bob E. Baldock, expanding to 18 holes a decade later. The original flat course was called the Hill Course after Captain Arthur S. Hill, the commanding officer at Moffett when the facility opened. Management passed from the Navy to the Air Force and then NASA, and the course is now operated by OB Sports/Troon Golf.
The course sits within Moffett Federal Airfield, now leased by NASA, alongside the historic Hangar 1 and the airfield's runways, where aircraft activity is often visible from the course. The airfield also houses the NASA Ames Research Center, and burrowing owl preserves lie next to the golf course. Play takes in views of the surrounding mountains and San Francisco Bay. A historical society museum adjacent to Hangar 1 covers a century of Moffett history.
