Riverside Golf Course
About Riverside Golf Course
Riverside Golf Course carries one of Fresno's longest golf histories. Built in 1939 as a federally funded Works Progress Administration project for the city, it is the second oldest course in Fresno. The original layout has never been remodeled, though most of the greens have since been rebuilt to USGA standards.
The design came from architect William P. "Billy" Bell, who worked with George Thomas on classic courses such as Riviera Country Club and is also credited with the Stanford University course and Torrey Pines in San Diego.
Known locally as "Big Muni," Riverside has been a public course since the beginning and is one of three courses owned by the City of Fresno.
