About Meadow Club

Meadow Club in Fairfax, California, dates to 1927, when Dr. Alister MacKenzie laid out the course in the quiet setting of Bon Tempe Meadow. In keeping with MacKenzie's approach, the design was routed to work with the natural contours of the land.

Restoration work began in 1999, when member Dr. Gary Nelson led an effort to return the 5th hole to its original form. The results prompted the club to engage architect Mike DeVries, who had apprenticed with Tom Doak and grew up playing MacKenzie's Crystal Downs, to undertake a restoration of the full course alongside then-superintendent David Sexton and his crew. Many features of the original plan that had been lost over the decades have since been uncovered and reinstated.

The club is private, with a long-standing culture built around its membership and guests.
