Castle Creek Country Club

Castle Creek Country Club in Escondido, California, is a tree-lined layout where accuracy matters more than distance. The opening hole, named "Josephine" after the club's owner, plays straight away with out of bounds along the left and a line of trees to the right, finishing at a slightly undulating green that slopes away from the player.

Water is a recurring theme. One demanding par five is squeezed between out of bounds on the left and a lateral water hazard on the right, both running the full length of the hole, with a fairway that tilts to the right. A short par four called "Heaven's Door" is drivable in theory, but a lateral hazard runs down its right side while bunkers and trees guard the left, and a further water hazard sits behind the green, hidden from the fairway.
