About Lake Merced Golf Club
Founded in 1922, Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City is a private club whose course has been shaped by a succession of golf architects over the past century.
The club has a long association with competitive golf at both the amateur and professional levels. In 1924 it staged an international match between Gene Sarazen, then the U.S. Open champion, and Arthur Havers, the reigning British Open champion. The pair played 36 holes, with Sarazen finishing three up.
