River Oaks Golf Course and Event Center

River Oaks Golf Course and Event Center is a public golf facility in Ceres, in California's Central Valley, with a history dating back to 1979.

The course was founded by Jim and Carol Phipps, who relocated from the Bay Area in the late 1970s and built their own course after learning of a long wait to join a nearby country club. Construction began with what is now the back nine. Two years later, flooding from the Tuolumne River damaged the layout, prompting a rebuild and the addition of a front nine, also known as the "top nine," on higher ground that could remain playable when the river rose. The family's son Rob later took over operations and, with head teaching professional Greg Silva, established the River Oaks junior golf program.
