About The Club at Tucson National

Tucson National has a long tournament history, having hosted the PGA Tour's Tucson Open from 1965 through 2006. Many of the game's best-known players competed on the course over those decades, among them Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson, Tom Kite and Johnny Miller, and early editions of the event were hosted by celebrities including Dean Martin. Nicklaus represented the club in its early years.

The property grew gradually into a resort. Twelve guestrooms were added in the 1970s for members only, followed in the early 1980s by 155 rooms and suites and a third nine holes. The resort began welcoming the general public in 1986.

Bob Rowling, CEO of the Shoreline Operating Company, bought Tucson National in 1990. When Shoreline acquired the Omni Hotels Group in 1996, the property was renamed Omni Tucson National Resort, and ongoing investment has since gone toward the guest rooms, the spa and the grounds.
