About Talking Stick Golf Club

Talking Stick Golf Club sits on the land of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, a sovereign tribe whose reservation spans more than 52,000 acres between Scottsdale and Mesa in the Phoenix area. The Community is home to two distinct Native peoples, the Akimel O'odham (Pima) and the Xalychidom Piipaash (Maricopa), both with long-standing ties to the Salt River Valley.

The Akimel O'odham farmed along the Salt and Gila Rivers for generations, building extensive irrigation canals, while the Piipaash came from the Colorado River region and joined them in the 1800s.

The club opened in 1998, created by the Community as part of a broader effort toward economic development while honoring its land and traditions. It is located on tribal land and remains owned and operated by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
