About Phoenician Golf Club
Phoenician Golf Club sits at the base of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, a resort setting with sweeping views toward the city skyline across the Sonoran Desert.
The property's history reaches back to the early 1900s, when a small frame house stood below the mountain. Artist Jessie Benton Evans bought the house along with 40 acres of surrounding desert and remodeled it to her own taste. She later gave 12 acres to her son and daughter-in-law, who built an adobe home there in 1926 and gradually enlarged it to receive visitors for tea and, in time, overnight guests. That building survives as Jokake Inn, standing just within the grounds of The Phoenician.

The resort itself dates to 1985, when Charles Keating acquired the land at the foot of Camelback Mountain with the aim of creating a luxury property blending European refinement with its desert surroundings.
