About Papago Golf Club
Papago Golf Club sits within Papago Park in Phoenix, a desert setting marked by red sandstone formations shaped by erosion over millions of years, among them the well-known Hole-in-the-Rock. The park carries a long history: evidence suggests the ancient Hohokam used the natural openings in the rock, known as tafoni, to track the solstices, giving the course an unusual historical backdrop.
The club opened in 1963 and became a fixture for Phoenix golfers, hosting the US Amateur Public Links Championship in 1971. It is managed by Troon and serves as the home course for Arizona State University's golf teams.
