About Arizona Country Club
Arizona Country Club traces its origins to 1909, when the property opened as the Ingleside Golf Resort — the first winter resort built in Phoenix. The original course sat north of Indian School Road and the Arizona Canal, and featured six holes played over oiled sand greens. In the late 1920s, Ralph Murphy moved the resort to the south side of the canal and laid out a new 18-hole course planted in common Bermuda grass.

The layout was redesigned and reshaped in 1946, the same period in which Arizona Country Club was incorporated as a private club. It hosted the Phoenix Open from 1955 through 1973, drawing players such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.
The club remains private and family-oriented, with descendants of its founders and earliest members still among the membership.
