Red Apple Inn Golf Course

Red Apple Inn Lodging & Golf is a resort course in Heber Springs, Arkansas, set in the wooded hills of the Ozark foothills beside Greers Ferry Lake. The property traces back to Arkansas businessman Herbert L. Thomas and his wife, Ruby, who bought 500 acres of forested hillside near Heber Springs in 1961 with the intention of building a vacation destination and golf course there.

The completion of Greers Ferry Dam the following year put roughly 100 acres of that land under the waters of the new lake, leaving the balance for the resort. The lodge and restaurant opened in 1963, with Ruby Thomas running the kitchen, and became one of the few hotels in the town; fire destroyed the building a year later. Rebuilt rooms and a restaurant overlooking Greers Ferry Lake opened again in 1965 and have served guests since.
