Ben Geren Public Golf Course

Ben Geren Golf Course is a 27-hole public layout spread across 285 acres in southeastern Fort Smith. The course features MiniVerde ultradwarf bermudagrass greens with bermudagrass tees and fairways, framed by native tall grass prairie. That prairie setting brings wildflowers, native grasses and wildlife into play, making the course suitable for both experienced players and newcomers.

The course sits within Ben Geren Park, roughly 1,300 acres of gently rolling land named for Ben Geren, the Sebastian County Judge at the time of its development. Land for the park became available from the Fort Chaffee Military Reservation in 1966. The original 18 holes — the Magnolia and Willow nines — and the clubhouse were built in 1971 and opened the following year. A third nine, the Silo course, was designed by architect Jeff Brauer and added in 1995.
