El Dorado Country Club
About El Dorado Country Club
El Dorado Golf & Country Club was founded in 1923, during the area's oil boom, by Colonel Thomas Barton and a group of associates who wanted a golf and country club for themselves and their colleagues. During the Depression, part of the course was given over to a skeet shooting range to help offset costs, and it was returned to its original layout once conditions improved. The club then hosted the first Oil Belt Golf Tournament, an event that continues today and in its early years drew touring professionals who made a living playing the region's circuit.

In 2018 the club began a major renovation of the clubhouse as the first stage of a multi-phase plan for the property. The work has included an updated member dining room, a bar and lounge, refreshed private event space, new tennis courts, a renovated pool area with a two-story slide, and an open-air cabana with food and beverage service. The club marked its centennial in 2023.
