About Musgrove Country Club
Musgrove Country Club in Jasper is known above all for its clubhouse, a log structure unlike most others in American golf. The original building was completed in 1924 by Col. L.B. Musgrove, who used it to host business associates and visitors from Wall Street and elsewhere in the country. All 556 logs in that first building were cut from the 228 acres that make up the club property, giving the interior its open, pioneer-era character.
After losses in the stock market crash left Musgrove's fortune in decline, he sold the country estate in 1932 to a group of 45 Walker County residents, who organized it as Musgrove Country Club.
