About Dothan National Golf Club and Hotel

Dothan National Golf Club and Hotel sits on a site with an unusual history. During the 1960s, oil prospectors drilled wells across Houston County, and the deepest well ever sunk in Alabama was bored on the ground the golf club now occupies. No oil was struck, but the drilling did tap a naturally flowing hot mineral spring rising from a depth of 2,894 feet.

The water emerges from the well at 85 degrees and is heated to 102 degrees before being pumped into an indoor spa measuring 5 feet deep, 20 feet wide and 20 feet long. The mineral pool has served as a place of relaxation for guests for decades, though no specific health claims are made for it.
